Traffic police in dailekh collected over 3 million revenue

The District Traffic Police Office in Dailekh collected more than Rs. 3.1 million in revenue during the fiscal year 2081/82 by taking action against drivers who violated traffic rules.

According to Traffic Police Chief Dilip Kumar Budha, a total of Rs. 3,18,500 was raised through fines issued to vehicle owners and drivers for breaking various traffic regulations. Throughout the fiscal year, traffic police teams stationed at various parts of Dailekh district took action against 3,343 drivers by the end of Ashar (mid-July). The majority of these vehicles included motorcycles, followed by jeeps, cars, and then trucks, buses, tankers, tractors, autos, and tempos.

Compared to the previous year, traffic accidents in the district increased by 3%, Chief Budha added. He emphasized that most of the traffic violations were related to:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Not carrying valid driving licenses or documents
  • Overspeeding
  • Overloading vehicles
  • Riding without helmets

Along with enforcement, the Dailekh District Traffic Police has also been conducting awareness programs in schools across different municipalities. These programs aim to educate students and the public about road safety and help reduce traffic accidents in the region.
