A 71-year-old woman named Suvarnakeshari Shrestha died after being hit by a bus while crossing the road in Bhaktapur.
The incident took place at Itbu Chowk, Suryabinayak Municipality–8, along the Araniko Highway. The bus (Ba 5 Kha 4782) from Mayur Yatayat was traveling from Banepa to Kathmandu when it struck the pedestrian.
Shrestha, originally from Magalachen, Bhaktapur-4, and currently residing in Bhaktapur Adarsha, was seriously injured in the accident. She was rushed to Bhaktapur Hospital for treatment but died during medical care, according to District Police Spokesperson Dhundiraj Neupane.
The bus driver, 28-year-old Nilkumar Tamang from Shivapuri Rural Municipality–2, Nuwakot, and currently living in Narayansthan, Kathmandu, has been taken into police custody. Further investigation is underway.
