Actor Abhishek Banerjee recently found himself at the center of an unusual misunderstanding when he was mistakenly credited as the writer of Paatal Lok 2.
According to sources, Banerjee—well-known for his memorable performances in films and web series—has been dealing with a case of mistaken identity. The confusion arises because he shares his name with his longtime friend, who is also a talented writer. As a result, several episodes of Paatal Lok Season 2 have been wrongly attributed to the actor instead of the actual writer.
Reacting to the mix-up, Abhishek took a lighthearted approach. He recalled an old conversation with his writer friend, where he had jokingly suggested, “You might want to change your name. If I ever become famous, people will assume I wrote all your scripts.” To his surprise, that joke has now turned into reality.
With his signature wit, the actor remarked, “If I ever tried writing, it would probably get rejected even faster than my first audition.”
Determined to clear up the confusion, he emphasized that the credit belongs solely to his friend. “There are two Abhishek Banerjees in the industry—one acts, the other writes. Let’s not mix them up. The real writer deserves full recognition for his work.”
Meanwhile, the latest season of Paatal Lok delivers an intense crime thriller set in Nagaland. The story follows Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) and his colleague Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh) as they investigate the disappearance of a migrant worker, which leads them into the dark world of drug syndicates. As the case unfolds, Hathi Ram faces not only dangerous criminals but also deep-rooted corruption and his own internal battles.
Featuring an ensemble cast including Gul Panag, Tillotama Shome, and Nagesh Kukunoor, Paatal Lok 2 premiered on Prime Video on January 17.
