Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has finally called an executive meeting after a long delay in the budget process. The meeting is scheduled for Friday at 2 PM.
Key Meetings Before the Main Session
Before the main executive meeting, the Budget Resource Committee will meet at 11 AM. After that, there will be a meeting of the Budget and Program Drafting Committee led by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.
All of these steps are being completed before the executive meeting takes place in the afternoon.
Purpose of the Meeting
The executive meeting will decide on the policies, programs, and budget for the upcoming fiscal year. These decisions will then be presented to the municipal assembly for approval.
Reason for the Delay
The delay happened because of ongoing misunderstandings between Mayor Balen and the Chief Administrative Officer. Due to this, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City was unable to present the budget on time as required by the constitution.
