Alibaba’s AI assistant app Quark has now become the most popular AI app in China. It beat ByteDance’s Doubao and another competitor called DeepSeek in March 2025. This shows how quickly Quark is gaining attention and love from Chinese users.
From Simple Tool to AI Super Assistant
Originally, Quark was only a cloud storage and search service. But now, Alibaba has upgraded it into a powerful AI super assistant. It has a clean, user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for everyone to use.
Over 150 Million Monthly Users
According to data from Aicpb.com, Quark reached nearly 150 million monthly active users (MAUs) in March. ByteDance’s Doubao had around 100 million, and DeepSeek had close to 77 million users.
Where the Data Comes From
The rankings are based on app store data collected from Apple and Google stores around the world, along with Chinese Android app stores. However, the numbers do not include people who directly visit chatbot websites. Alibaba also said that Quark has 200 million total users, but they did not say how many use the mobile or desktop version.
Global Ranking of Quark Among AI Apps
In a separate study by Andreessen Horowitz, a US venture capital firm, Quark was ranked as the 6th most popular AI app globally by monthly users. It followed other big names like Baidu’s AI Search, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Microsoft’s Edge browser with AI features.
Alibaba’s Growing Role in AI
With this growth, Alibaba is now showing that it’s becoming a major player in the global AI race. Quark’s success is a clear example of how fast the company is moving in the AI world, especially in China.
