The road section between Majhi Basti and Khaniyaghat, part of the Maldhunga-Beni highway, has been blacktopped. This section was paved as part of the National Pride Kaligandaki Corridor, Beni-Jomsom-Korla Road Project.
Two kilometers of road have been blacktopped, stretching from Majhi Basti in Kushma Municipality-1 to Khaniyaghat in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8.
The 13-kilometer-long Beni-Maldhunga road is being widened to 11 meters, with asphalt blacktopping and concrete layering. The project, undertaken for NPR 528.6 million, was contracted to a construction company, according to project sub-engineer Sohan Jung Karki.
Currently, two kilometers of concrete work have been completed in various locations, while expansion, sub-base, base laying, and grading work is ongoing for an additional eight kilometers.
Meanwhile, as reported by a Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) representative from Galkot, Baglung, the Bokse-Sigana road is also being blacktopped at a rapid pace. Work began from Bokse in the first phase, aiming to complete six kilometers of blacktopping out of the 10-kilometer stretch. The work is progressing swiftly, with a target completion date set for Chaitra (March-April).
The blacktopping of the 10-kilometer road is being carried out under a contract worth NPR 293.788 million.
