BoA is facing backlash following a controversial comment she made about comedian Park Na Rae during a casual live stream on April 5. The incident occurred during a relaxed broadcast from Jun Hyun Moo’s home, where the two celebrities were enjoying dinner and drinks while interacting with viewers.
The atmosphere initially seemed light and fun, but things took a turn when a viewer asked Jun Hyun Moo about rumors regarding his relationship with Park Na Rae. Before he could respond, BoA quickly interjected, stating, “I don’t think so.” When Jun Hyun Moo attempted to clarify, asking if BoA thought Park Na Rae was “too good” for him, BoA bluntly responded, “No, you’re too good for her.”
Her comment immediately sparked outrage among viewers, many of whom felt that the remark was disrespectful and unnecessary, particularly because it was made in Park Na Rae’s absence. Fans and netizens took to social media to voice their disappointment, criticizing BoA for what they perceived as an unprofessional and hurtful comment, given her position and experience in the entertainment industry.
In response to the mounting criticism, BoA issued a public apology on April 7 through Weverse. She expressed sincere regret for her “careless words and behavior” during the live broadcast, acknowledging that her actions had caused discomfort to her audience. BoA also apologized directly to Park Na Rae, emphasizing that she had personally reached out to the comedian to offer an apology and was grateful for Park Na Rae’s understanding.
BoA went on to apologize to her fans, admitting that she had let them down. “I will take this incident as an opportunity to reflect on myself and strive to be more mindful of the impact of my words and actions,” she wrote. “Moving forward, I will work to present a more mature and thoughtful version of myself.”
As of now, Park Na Rae has not publicly commented on the incident.
