China Rises by 14.6% in Electricity Generation Capacity

By the end of March 2025, China’s total electricity generation capacity reached 3.43 billion kilowatts, according to official data. This is a 14.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

Solar Energy Leads with Massive Growth

China’s solar power capacity has seen a strong boost. It now stands at 950 million kilowatts, which is a 43.4% growth from last year. This highlights the country’s major shift towards clean and renewable energy.

Wind Power Also on the Rise

The country’s wind energy capacity reached 540 million kilowatts, marking a 17.2% increase from the previous year. Wind and solar together are playing a major role in China’s green energy goals.

Investment in Power Projects Slows Slightly

In the first three months of 2025, China’s large power companies invested 132.2 billion yuan in power production projects. This amount is 2.5% lower than the investment made during the same time last year.

Power Transmission Sees Big Investment Boost

During the same period, 95.6 billion yuan was invested in building electricity transmission lines. This is a 24.8% increase from last year, showing China’s commitment to strengthening its power delivery infrastructure.
