Clash Erupts at Patan Multiple Campus Over Student Election Dispute

Patan Multiple Campus

A violent clash broke out at Patan Multiple Campus on Tuesday between two student unions, the Nepali Student Union (Nevisangh) and the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), following allegations of voter fraud in the student union election.

The dispute escalated after it was discovered that a single student ID had been used by seven individuals to vote, leading to the immediate suspension of the voting process after 100 votes had been cast. The revelation triggered tensions between the competing groups, sparking heated confrontations on campus.

As efforts were being made to resolve the issue through a multilateral meeting, members of both unions engaged in physical clashes outside the election premises. Amid the chaos, ANNFSU announced a boycott of the election, submitting a memorandum to the election committee in protest.

Meanwhile, Nevisangh and other student groups accused ANNFSU of attempting to disrupt the election due to concerns over losing the vote. The incident has raised serious questions about election integrity and the role of student unions in maintaining campus harmony.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the next steps for the election process.
