Saturday Night Live’s(SNL) “Weekend Update” co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che didn’t hold back as they took aim at President Donald Trump’s controversial tariffs and the tech CEOs who apparently didn’t see them coming.

Tech CEOs Claim Surprise — But Trump Always Loved Tariffs

Colin Jost pointed out the irony of tech company executives who were shocked by Trump’s tariff policies.

“The CEOs of many tech companies who supported President Trump’s campaign have said they were surprised by all of his tariffs,” Jost said. “Well, yeah, I mean, he hardly ever mentioned them.”

To drive his point home, Jost played a montage of Trump bragging about tariffs during his 2024 presidential campaign, ending with Trump loudly declaring, “I love tariffs!”

Jost quipped, “It’s like listening to Bubba Gump talk about shrimp.”

Trump Tries to Fix the Mess… He Made?

Jost kept the jabs coming, saying:

“This week, President Trump tried to rescue the economy from the disastrous policies of whoever was president last week.”

He added that Trump paused most tariffs for 90 days, joking, “Now, 90 days may not seem like a long time, but remember: Trump has only been president for 82 days.”

“Already it feels like a goddamned decade,” he concluded.

Michael Che Compares Tariff Plan to Bad Medicine

Michael Che joined the roast with his own take:

“Trump responded to the fallout from his tariffs, saying ‘Sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something.’ Yeah, but this feels like we took a whole bottle of medicine with a glass of vodka and laid in a warm bath.”

He also mocked Elon Musk’s reported influence over Trump. After Musk reportedly asked Trump to stop the tariff plan, the stock market bounced back. Che showed a photo of Musk from Trump’s inauguration making a gesture that resembled a Nazi salute.

Made-in-USA iPhones Could Break the Bank

Che ended on a jab at Trump’s “Made in America” push:

“A new report shows that if iPhones were manufactured in the U.S., they could cost up to $3,500.”

Then he added with a laugh, “Which is a lot, but remember: your kids would get an employee discount.”
