Contractor of Kathmandu View Tower released within a week of arrest (1)

Manoj Kumar Bhetwal, the contractor of Kathmandu View Tower, was released on 19 Asar, just six days after his arrest on 13 Asar. He was taken into custody based on a complaint regarding a bounced cheque worth around 10 crore rupees.

Hospitalization after arrest
Soon after being arrested, Bhetwal was admitted to a hospital. On 15 Asar, the court had approved a six-day remand starting from the day of arrest. However, he remained in the hospital during this time.

Court did not extend remand
According to SP Apil Raj Bohara from Kathmandu District Police, Bhetwal appeared before the court while still admitted to the hospital. The court decided not to extend his remand, citing health reasons. As a result, police could not take any further action.

Bounced cheque case
Bhetwal was arrested over allegations of issuing a bounced cheque worth approximately NPR 10 crore. Despite the serious charge, his quick release has raised questions due to the health-related exception made by the court.
