A decomposed body of a man was discovered inside the Giribandhu Tea Estate in Birtamod. According to the Jhapa District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Kumar Gurung, son of Tek Bahadur Gurung, a resident of Ranitaar-2, Panchthar.
Police confirmed his identity based on a citizenship certificate found at the scene. The body was found on Thursday morning around 7 AM, east of the Birtamod bus park.
The corpse was in a severely decomposed state, with no clothing on the upper body. The deceased was wearing only jeans and shoes. Based on the condition of the body, authorities suspect that he may have died approximately a week ago.
A police team from the Birtamod Area Police Office has arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. DSP Khagendra Khadka of the Jhapa District Police Office stated that further inquiries are underway to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
