Lee Jae Wook and Jo Bo Ah's Dear Hongrang Sets May 16 Premiere with First Poster & Teaser

A captivating new mystery romance series is on the way to Netflix, set to debut on May 16. Dear Hongrang, based on the bestselling novel by renowned author Jang Da Hye, promises to deliver an enticing mix of suspense, drama, and historical intrigue that is sure to captivate global audiences.

Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Dear Hongrang centers on the prestigious Min family, whose world is upended when their young son, Hongrang, mysteriously disappears without a trace. Twelve years later, a man claiming to be the long-lost heir reappears, sending shockwaves through the family and society. While most members of the Min family welcome his return, one person remains skeptical—his half-sister, Jae Yi.

The series stars two of Korea’s finest actors: Lee Jae Wook takes on the role of the enigmatic Hongrang, marking his highly anticipated return to the historical drama genre, while Jo Bo Ah plays the clever and determined Jae Yi. Her growing doubts about the identity of the man claiming to be her brother form the crux of the plot. The newly released poster showcases the two stars in an intense face-off, with the provocative slogan “Your hidden secrets, your unspoken truth” written across it.

The teaser trailer, released recently, gives fans a chilling preview of the series’ tense atmosphere. Hongrang’s sudden reappearance stirs up a whirlwind of emotions and conflicts within the Min family. His mother, Min Yeon Eui, portrayed by Uhm Ji Won, is overwhelmed by a mixture of grief and unconditional maternal love. His father, the stern patriarch Shim Yeol Guk, played by Park Byung Eun, struggles with his own suspicions, while Hongrang’s adopted brother, Mu Jin (Jung Ga Ram), must navigate the shifting dynamics of the family.

Despite the growing emotional turmoil, it is Jae Yi who remains resolute in her belief that the man claiming to be Hongrang is an impostor. Determined to expose the truth, she embarks on a quest to uncover what really happened all those years ago, setting the stage for a psychological battle that drives the heart of the series.

As if the family’s turmoil wasn’t enough, a new string of child abductions eerily mirroring Hongrang’s own disappearance begins to unfold. Whispers of superstition and dark rumors begin to spread, further shrouding the Min family in suspicion and tension, intensifying the mystery that lies at the core of the show.

Directed by Kim Hong Sun, known for his work on Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, Dear Hongrang is expected to deliver gripping suspense and visually stunning period drama. Kim’s talent for creating emotionally charged, character-driven stories promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the series. Expect breathtaking visuals, deep character arcs, and heart-stopping suspense as the layers of Dear Hongrang are slowly peeled away in each episode.
