Driver Killed in Gas Tanker Accident on Prithvi Highway, Tanahun

A gas tanker accident occurred in Kamalbari, Ward No. 12 of Byas Municipality, Tanahun, resulting in the death of the driver.

The accident happened around 6:40 PM on Saturday while the tanker with the Indian registration number HR 55 KQ 4711 was coming towards Damauli from Muglin along the Prithvi Highway. The vehicle crashed on a winding road.

In the incident, the driver, 35-year-old Srikant Kumar from Mirzapur, Bihar, India, sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Damauli, where he was declared dead by the doctors at 8:30 PM, according to DSP Ashok Thapa from the Tanahun District Police Office. The body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue.

The bullet tanker was carrying gas for Shakti Gas Company. While the overturned tanker posed a significant risk of a major accident, the police reported that it was fortunate no such event occurred. The police also informed that the Indian embassy has been notified, and the post-mortem will be conducted once the family arrives.
