Satendra Soni, known for his role as “Chotu” in Lapata Ladies, is now a well-recognized actor. His powerful acting and unique dialogue delivery have won the hearts of many. However, his journey to success was not easy. Satendra comes from Sihora, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, and today, he is making a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
Started with Village Plays
Satendra’s acting journey began when he saw a play printed in a newspaper. Inspired by it, he started performing small plays in his village. However, he became famous after appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show. To improve his skills, he also joined theater for a year.
Worked as an Assistant
During an audition for a film, Satendra met writer and director Jani Angraj. At that time, he was struggling and stayed with Jani. He faced many rejections, which forced him to return home. But he soon realized that staying in his village would not help him achieve his dreams, so he went back to Mumbai and started working as an assistant.
Believes in Hard Work and Luck
Satendra says he moved to Mumbai because he believed his hard work and luck would make him an actor. He feels fortunate that he has received great support from the film industry. However, his journey was not without challenges—he also faced body shaming.
Faced Discouragement and Rejections
When he first arrived in Mumbai, some people tried to discourage him. They told him he could never become an actor and that he was a burden on his family. These comments hurt him deeply because he had never heard such things before.
Satendra also faced many rejections. In the early months, he was constantly rejected in auditions and was often told he was “not fit” for the role. This made him very sad, and sometimes he even cried after returning home. But he believes that everything happens for a reason, and now he feels that things turned out well for him.
Movies and Shows
Satendra has appeared in about 22–23 episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show. His first movie, Ab To Sab Bhagwan Bharose, was released in 2023, where he played the lead role. Later, he played “Chotu” in Laapataa Ladies. Now, he has also worked with Nana Patekar in the movie Vanvaas.
