The Urban Development and Building Construction Office has announced that the newly built electric crematorium at Devghat Dham is now ready for operation. With construction completed, the office plans to bring it into operation within a month.
According to Jhapat Bahadur Thapa, head of the Urban Development and Building Construction Office in Bharatpur, the facility will be handed over to Bharatpur Metropolitan City for operation starting from Bhadra. Electrical connections and machine installations have already been completed at the site. The crematorium, which began construction on 3rd Magh 2075, faced several delays before completion.
Thapa shared that while construction is done, technical training for operators is still pending. “We are preparing to train staff for cremation duties and expect operations to begin from Bhadra,” he said. The city will send staff who will receive the necessary training for the operation.
According to the office, the crematorium was built at a cost of Rs 11 crore 21 lakh 8 thousand 641, funded by the Urban Development Office.
