A heartbreaking incident has surfaced from Kailashpur, Gauriganga-7, where 16-year-old Tulsi Nath, a new mother, was murdered by her own brother-in-law, 20-year-old Nabin Nath, on Thursday night in Kailali.
According to DSP Ran Bahadur Chand of the Malakheti Area Police Office, the murder stemmed from a family dispute caused by poverty. Tulsi’s husband works in Pune, India, while Nabin Nath and his wife lived in the same house. Frustration over economic stress and household issues had been escalating.
On the day of the incident, Tulsi had gone to a local clinic to get her baby vaccinated. By the time she returned, no one had saved her food. She reportedly ate instant noodles and sarcastically said that even though her husband earns, she still didn’t receive proper care, even in her postpartum phase. This comment allegedly enraged Nabin Nath.
Later that night, around midnight, Nabin Nath entered her room and smothered her, killing her on the spot. He then dumped the body in a nearby drain in front of their house. In the morning, neighbors discovered her body, with earrings missing and her necklace (pote) found beside the corpse.
During interrogation, Nabin Nath confessed to the crime, police confirmed. The infant child has been taken under protection.
