Fire Breaks Out at Sancho Company in Koteshwor

A fire has broken out in the building used for Sancho production at the Koteshwor-based herbal production and processing company.

According to the company’s General Manager, Sangita Yadav, the fire, which initially started in the main office building, has now spread to the Sancho production facility.

“Air purification is required for making medicine. We had transitioned from manual technology to machine-based technology,” Yadav told The Ritible. “There is also a large quantity of oil in the Sancho production building. Additionally, there is another building connected to it where the oil is stored.”

Although fire trucks arrived about 30 minutes ago, the fire has not yet been brought under control, she informed. She further mentioned that 25 tons of oil are stored in the building where Sancho is produced.

“If the fire reaches there, a massive explosion could occur,” Yadav told The Ritible. “If the building storing the oil catches fire, the entire herbal area could be destroyed.”

The protest led by Durga Prasai initially set fire to half a dozen parked vehicles. According to Yadav, office employees were inside working when stones were suddenly thrown from outside. As the protesters began smashing the building’s glass windows, the employees fled through the back exit to save their lives.
