London’s Heathrow Airport will be closed all day on Friday. According to the BBC, the closure happened after a large fire at an electrical substation near the airport, which caused a power outage.
In a statement, the airport said, “The fire has caused a major power supply disruption at the airport.”
The statement also added, “For the safety of our passengers and staff, Heathrow Airport will remain closed until 23:59 midnight on March 21.”
Passengers are advised not to go to the airport and are asked to contact their airline for more information. The airport also apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
Heathrow, the largest airport in the UK, usually handles about 1,300 flights daily.
