In a buzz-worthy development from the film industry, Tollywood director Harish Shankar is reportedly in discussions with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for an upcoming breezy entertainer. The project is being backed by the leading production house, Mythri Movie Makers, and promises to be a grand-scale venture.
A Game-Changing Collaboration
Fans and trade analysts are already abuzz with excitement at the possibility of the collaboration between the popular director and actor. Shankar, known for his mass entertainer films, has a proven track record with huge hits. His previous success with Gabbar Singh, a remake of Salman Khan’s Dabangg, is a notable example of his ability to reinvent stories in a way that resonates with the masses.
Mythri Movie Makers, which is already working on the action drama Jaat starring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, would make a significant leap into Bollywood with this film featuring Salman Khan.
Ustaad Bhagat Singh Shelved for Political Reasons
Interestingly, Mythri Movie Makers had initially planned a project with Pawan Kalyan under Shankar’s direction titled Ustaad Bhagat Singh. However, the film was shelved due to Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments after he entered the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections. After securing a position as the deputy Chief Minister of the state, Pawan had to prioritize his political career, which led to the suspension of the film’s production.
Now, the filmmakers are reportedly turning their attention to a new film, potentially with Salman Khan, continuing their partnership with Harish Shankar. Should this collaboration materialize, it will add to the growing trend of cross-industry partnerships between the North and South film industries.
