Jhon Duran to Al Nassr: €77m Deal Agreed After Boniface Move Falls Through

January 30, 2025

In a dramatic shift of plans, Al Nassr has pulled out of their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface and turned their attention to Aston Villa’s Jhon Jader Durán. The Saudi club had previously reached a €55m (£46m) agreement for Boniface, and the player had undergone a medical. However, Al Nassr made the unexpected decision to focus on Durán instead.

Now, the club is finalizing a €77m fixed-fee deal for the Colombian forward, with additional add-ons included in the agreement. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the paperwork for Durán’s transfer is almost complete, with the player having agreed to a long-term contract with Al Nassr. Durán is scheduled for a medical tomorrow, and once it’s done, he will travel to Saudi Arabia to finalize the deal.

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, had confirmed that Boniface would remain with the German club. Rolfes explained, “Boniface will train with the team again tomorrow. He is still a Bayer 04 player.” He added that while financial considerations play a role in transfers, the current situation makes it unlikely that Boniface will leave Leverkusen. “The events have not led to him being sold. We are happy about that,” Rolfes stated.

With Boniface no longer in the picture, Al Nassr has fully shifted its focus to securing Durán, signaling a strong commitment to strengthening their attacking options.
