After years of mystery, Kanye West has finally dropped Donda 2, an album many fans believed would never see the light of day. The release was confirmed during a livestream, where the rapper-producer announced plans to unveil the long-delayed project on Tuesday.
Initially teased in early 2022 as the sequel to his Grammy-nominated Donda (2021), Donda 2 was first distributed exclusively through West’s proprietary Stem Player. The unconventional rollout meant the album skipped all major streaming platforms, limiting access to fans willing to buy the device. Over time, a handful of tracks from the Stem Player version were reworked or handed off to other artists—including Fivio Foreign and The Game—adding to the confusion about the album’s final form.
Now, in a surprise move, Donda 2 has appeared on streaming platforms under the artist name “Donda,” featuring 18 tracks. While many of the songs stem from the original Stem Player edition, they now include retitled versions and new mixes. Executive producer Future appears on several cuts, including standout tracks like Happy and Mr. Miagi. One notable return is 5:30, previously heard on Vultures 2—Kanye’s collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign—but now presented in a shorter format.
The album is loaded with star power. Jack Harlow delivers a verse on Louie Bag, while Canadian rapper Sean Leon features on SCIFI, which also includes a striking spoken-word clip from West’s former wife, Kim Kardashian. In the excerpt, Kardashian reflects:
“I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he’s the richest Black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four talented, incredible kids.”
Despite frequent controversies and sporadic online rants—especially on X (formerly Twitter)—West has kept his creative output steady. Just last month, he released a multimedia project titled Bully, presented through a string of short films. One notable segment featured his son, Saint West, wrestling against Japanese pro wrestling icons like Toru Yano and Tiger Mask. However, the videos were quickly scrubbed from social media, and the fate of Bully remains unclear.
As for Donda 2, the rollout remains somewhat ambiguous. Although it is now available on some streaming platforms, West hinted during his livestream that updates to the mixes are ongoing—suggesting that the project may continue to evolve even after release.
