Karan Johar Unveils ‘The Traitors’ Trailer: 20 Celebs, Twisted Games, and Ruthless Betrayals Await

Karan Johar is all set to stir up the reality TV scene with The Traitors, the much-awaited Indian adaptation of the hit international show. After keeping audiences guessing with a cryptic teaser, the filmmaker has now dropped the official trailer — and it’s nothing short of dramatic, intense, and star-packed.

Inside the World of The Traitors
Set in an opulent, mysterious palace, The Traitors brings together 20 well-known personalities who must survive deception, betrayal, and daily eliminations — all for the ultimate grand prize. But there’s a sinister twist: three contestants will secretly be chosen as “traitors” whose mission is to eliminate one innocent player each night.

Karan Johar, known for his flair for drama and suspense, introduces viewers to what he calls a “sweet game” featuring “seedhe saadhe log,” or seemingly simple people. But the psychological battle that ensues is anything but sweet.

From explosive declarations — like rapper Raftaar vowing to quit music if he’s the traitor, to Uorfi Javed promising to shave her head — the trailer teases high-stakes gameplay and emotional breakdowns. Jasmin Bhasin, Apoorva Mukhija (a.k.a. Rebel Kid), and Jannat Zubair are even seen in tears, admitting, “This game is too hard.”

Meet the Contestants
The full contestant lineup features a mix of influencers, actors, and celebrities:
Purav Jha, Karan Kundrra, Harsh Gujral, Ashish Vidyarthi, Apoorva Mukhija, Uorfi Javed, Jasmine Bhasin, Lakshmi Manchu, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Nikita Luther, Anshula Kapoor, Raj Kundra, Janvi Gaur, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair, Mukesh Chhabra, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sahil Salathia, and Sufi Motiwala.

Fans Are Hooked
Social media is buzzing with reactions. While some viewers compared it to Bigg Boss, Splitsvilla, and Roadies, others said it looks “more interesting than Bigg Boss.” A few weren’t shy about calling it the “Sasta Bigg Boss” — a cheaper version — but many expressed genuine excitement to watch their favourite celebrities face off in a game where trust is a luxury.

What to Expect
Produced by BBC Studios India in collaboration with All3Media International, The Traitors promises a gripping, psychological showdown where friendships will be tested and alliances shattered. According to the official synopsis:
“In this ruthless game, trust is rare and betrayal is everywhere. Hosted by the enigmatic Karan Johar, 20 players must outwit each other, while hidden traitors ‘murder’ the innocent each night.”

When and Where to Watch
The Traitors premieres June 12, with new episodes streaming every Thursday at 8 PM on Prime Video.

With its high-stakes gameplay, dramatic twists, and a glitzy cast, The Traitors looks ready to become your next reality TV obsession.
