Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar's Film Crosses ₹30 Cr Worldwide

Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday’s historical courtroom drama, Kesari Chapter 2, has shown resilience at the box office following a tepid opening day. While its performance in India has been steady, it’s the overseas markets that are giving the film a significant boost.

Despite a lukewarm start domestically, Kesari Chapter 2 has maintained its grip on the box office thanks to its powerful subject matter and Akshay Kumar’s global appeal. The film, which revolves around the trial of General Dyer after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, has struck a chord with international audiences, helping push its global numbers upward.

Box Office Update: In its first two days, the film has raked in ₹17.5 crore net (₹21 crore gross) within India. According to Sacnilk, its overseas collections have surpassed $1 million (approx. ₹9 crore), bringing the total worldwide earnings to ₹30 crore. Although not a blockbuster number, it puts Kesari Chapter 2 on track for a potential ₹100 crore run by the end of its first week, especially if positive word-of-mouth continues to spread.

Current Standing: With its current earnings, the film has already climbed to become the 7th highest-grossing Hindi movie of the year—outperforming Emergency and Fateh. If the trend continues, it is poised to overtake Diplomat and Deva within the next few days. However, surpassing the total collections of Chhaava and Sikandar might remain a challenging feat. Still, Kesari Chapter 2 is expected to beat Jaat by Sunny Deol in the coming days.

About the Film: Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 is a gripping historical courtroom drama based on real events. Akshay Kumar stars as C Sankaran Nair, a lawyer determined to expose the British Raj’s atrocities, while R Madhavan plays his courtroom rival Advocate Neville McKinley, and Ananya Panday portrays journalist Dilreet Gill. The film is produced by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective.

With strong reviews and a growing buzz, Kesari Chapter 2 may yet turn its modest opening into a success story fueled by its compelling narrative and powerful performances.
