Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, GOLD MEDALIST, has initiated criminal proceedings against several individuals, including members of Kim Sae-ron’s family and Kim Sae-eui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute. According to a report by Koreaboo, the lawsuit stems from the unauthorized dissemination of a private photograph allegedly taken at Kim Sae-ron’s residence. The image, which reportedly shows Kim Soo-hyun in a compromising position, was displayed during a live broadcast on Sae-eui’s YouTube channel.
Legal Complaint and Accusations
The agency has also taken legal action against an anonymous individual claiming to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt, who allegedly provided the controversial image to Kim Sae-eui. The charges include violations under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, specifically regarding the distribution of illicitly obtained footage.
A statement from GOLD MEDALIST emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “The image in question was taken during Kim Soo-hyun’s past relationship with Kim Sae-ron, who was an adult at the time. It captures an aspect of the actor’s body that could cause sexual humiliation, and there is no justification for its release or public exposure.”
Ongoing Threats and Defamation
The agency also condemned the continued threats from Garo Sero Research Institute, claiming that the channel has indicated intentions to release additional similar images. They described this as a clear criminal act, adding that “such distribution or public display of personal images without consent is a severe offense, potentially provoking humiliation or violating an individual’s dignity.”
Furthermore, GOLD MEDALIST addressed the spread of false information by individuals claiming to be associated with Kim Sae-ron. The agency initially refrained from legal action against her family but stated that the unauthorized dissemination of an actor’s personal image is a grave violation that cannot be ignored.
Kim Soo-hyun’s Controversy
Kim Soo-hyun has recently been embroiled in controversy regarding his past relationship with Kim Sae-ron, particularly due to allegations that it began when she was a minor. Another report from Soompi suggested that he pressured her to repay a financial penalty of approximately 700 million won (around $481,200).
Kim Sae-ron, who had faced significant career setbacks following a drunk driving incident, was found dead in February at her home. Reports indicated that she had been struggling financially, taking on part-time jobs to cover debts. In 2024, she briefly shared a photo with Kim Soo-hyun on social media, fueling speculation about their relationship before quickly deleting the post.
This ongoing legal battle continues to unfold as GOLD MEDALIST vows to take strong action against the unauthorized distribution of private material and the spread of false rumors.
