Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has announced a strong but peaceful protest starting on Republic Day to push for the return of monarchy and Hindu state. Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, he urged all supporters to join the movement with their entire families.
We’ll Let the PM Escape by Helicopter, Says Lingden
Lingden said the protest will be decisive and powerful enough to make the Prime Minister leave office. Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent comment in parliament, he jokingly said, “If he doesn’t want to compromise, we’ll give him a chance to leave by helicopter.” He emphasized that this time, they are fully committed to seeing the protest through.
Join with Your Family or Lock Your House and Come
Encouraging mass participation, Lingden asked everyone to bring their family members to the protest. If not possible, he suggested people lock their homes and still attend together. He stressed that the movement will only succeed if everyone joins hands.
No Violence This Time, Says RPP Leader
Lingden assured that the protest will be peaceful and fully under control. He referred to the previous protest on Chaitra 15 in Kathmandu, where violence had erupted. But this time, he guaranteed there will be no violent acts from RPP or its supporters.
Human Rights Observers to Be Invited
To ensure transparency, Lingden said they will invite the Human Rights Commission and international organizations to monitor the protest. He instructed RPP leaders and volunteers to strictly follow peaceful protest rules.
Inspired by India’s Freedom Struggle
He gave the example of India’s freedom movement against British rule, which succeeded through peaceful civil disobedience. Lingden said that just like that, Nepal’s protest will rely on nonviolence and truth to achieve their goal of ending the republic.
