A 31-year-old Indian national has been arrested with illegal gold worth over Rs 4.5 million at Nagdhunga checkpoint, according to police reports.
The suspect, Mahadev Samanta from West Bengal, India, was traveling from Kakarbhitta to Kathmandu in a bus (Ba. Pra. 03–001 Kha 3139) when he was arrested by a joint team from Nagdhunga Police Post and the Narcotics Control Bureau.
Gold Weighing Over 274 Grams Found
Police seized 274.83 grams of undeclared gold from his possession. The estimated market value of the seized gold is Rs 4,563,826.
Samanta has been handed over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office at Gauchar for further legal action.
