Man Killed After Muzzleloader Accidentally Fires During Hunting Trip in Doti

A young man died in Doti after a traditional gun accidentally discharged while a group had gone hunting wild animals.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Barchhen forest of Badikedar Rural Municipality-1. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Naresh Sarki of Badikedar Rural Municipality-2. The gun reportedly went off accidentally, hitting Sarki in the chest.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Binod Sharma of Doti stated that the traditional muzzleloader (known as a bhurowa banduk) carried by 48-year-old Kamal Singh Khadka of Rajeda, Badikedar-1, accidentally discharged when it hit a tree, resulting in the fatal shooting.

Sarki was shot in the right side of his chest and died on the spot. Police have arrested 10 individuals for investigation.

Those arrested include Kamal Singh Khadka (48), who was carrying the gun, Khem Khadka (26), Tara Singh Khadka (52), Tejendra Bhatt (39), Amar Shah (40), Chakra Bhat (31), Sunil Bam (18), Ganesh Bahadur Gharti Magar (37), Man Bahadur Shah (71), and Jules Namjali Magar (26), SP Sharma informed.
