The film and television world is mourning the loss of well-known actor Mukul Dev, who passed away late at night on May 23, 2025, at the age of 54. Mukul, younger brother of actor Rahul Dev, had been battling serious health issues for over a week. His sudden demise has left his fans and many celebrities heartbroken.
Family Devastated, Shares Partner Mugdha Godse
Rahul Dev’s partner, Mugdha Godse, confirmed the news while speaking to Hindustan Times. She said,
“We’re still in shock. Mukul had been in the ICU for a week due to major health complications. No one imagined this would happen so suddenly.”
Mukul Dev’s last rites were performed on May 24 at Dayanand Muktidham in Nizamuddin, Delhi. Emotional scenes were witnessed as Rahul Dev tried to comfort grieving family members.

Many Bollywood and TV celebrities expressed their sorrow on social media. Actor Ravi Kishan and Manoj Bajpayee posted heartfelt tributes.
Director Vikram Bhatt, who had worked closely with Mukul Dev, was especially shaken.
He told Filmfare,
“My heart sank when I read the message on set—‘Rest in peace, Mukul Dev.’ I kept rereading it, hoping it was a mistake. I called people to confirm, but slowly it became clear—my friend Mukul was gone. My assistant told me the shot was ready, but I couldn’t go. My head was filled with memories, questions, and grief.”
Vikram Bhatt Remembers Casting Mukul in ‘Dastak’
Vikram recalled how Mahesh Bhatt discovered Mukul and got him cast in the 1996 film Dastak, starring Sushmita Sen. Mukul impressed everyone on the first day itself. That film started a strong friendship between Vikram and Mukul.
Years later, Mukul played a key role in Vikram Bhatt’s 2014 film Creature. However, in recent years, Mukul had taken a step back from acting and was mostly away from the spotlight.
