Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya is not panicking yet, but he wants his team’s batsmen to perform better. After losing two matches in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pandya believes it is time for the batters to step up.
Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL five times, have strong players like India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, and hard-hitter Tilak Varma. However, their batting has not been good so far.
In their last two matches, Mumbai scored only 155 and 160 runs, which were not enough to win. They lost to Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.
Batters Must Take Responsibility
After Mumbai lost to Gujarat by 36 runs, Pandya said that the batsmen must improve.
“There is no big concern, but it is time to take responsibility. It is still early in the tournament, but the batters need to perform. Hopefully, they will do better soon,” he said.
In the match against Mumbai, Gujarat’s captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played very well. They scored 66 runs in the first six overs, which helped their team reach a big total of 196-8.
“They batted brilliantly,” Pandya admitted. “They hit good shots without taking too many risks. Their batting made it difficult for us, and we had to keep catching up.”
Mumbai Indians Need a Win
Mumbai Indians are currently in ninth place out of 10 teams in the league. Their next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders, a team that has won the IPL three times. The match will be played in Mumbai on Monday, and the team will be hoping for a better performance.
