Nepal cricket team has fallen one spot in the ICC T20I rankings, now sitting at 18th place. This drop comes after Nepal lost to Kuwait in the final of the recently concluded four-nation T20I series in Hong Kong.
Nepal cricket team Loss to Lower-Ranked Kuwait
Nepal was defeated by just 3 runs in the final against Kuwait, a team ranked below them. This result not only denied Nepal the series title but also impacted their international ranking.
Dipendra Singh Airee Drops in All-Rounder Rankings
Star all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, who was previously second in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings, has now dropped to third.
Many had expected Airee to rise to the top with a strong performance in Hong Kong. However, the tournament didn’t go in his favor. He now shares the third spot with England’s Liam Livingstone, both with 209 rating points.
Australia’s Marcus Stoinis has overtaken Airee to move into second place with 210 points, while India’s Hardik Pandya remains at the top with 252 points.
Airee’s Dip in Form
Airee’s rating dropped significantly from 233 to 209. During the Hong Kong series:
- He didn’t get a chance to bat against Qatar and went wicketless after conceding 26 runs in 4 overs.
- Against Kuwait in the group stage, he scored a quick 31 off 12 balls.
- The match against Hong Kong was rain-affected, and he didn’t bat or bowl.
- In the final against Kuwait, he was dismissed for a duck and bowled just one over without taking a wicket.
Despite high expectations, both Nepal and Airee experienced setbacks that affected their standings in the latest ICC T20I rankings.
