Nepal Medical Association Begins Protests, Warns of Service Shutdown

The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has announced a protest starting today after the government failed to fulfill their demands within the given deadline. The association had given the government 48 hours to address their concerns, but since the demands were not met, doctors will now wear black armbands and stage a one-hour sit-in outside their offices.

According to an official statement from the NMA, the protest programs will take place at health institutions across the country on Wednesday and Thursday.

The association has also warned that if the government does not respond to their demands, they will be forced to halt all services except for emergency care.

On Sunday, the NMA had submitted a list of nine demands to the government, giving a 48-hour ultimatum. While the government addressed points 1 and 2, the association claims that no attention was given to the remaining demands, leading them to take further protest actions.
