A Nepali Congress leader, who had been on the run in connection with a murder case, has been arrested in Kanchanpur.
Uddhav Bohara, a 34-year-old resident of Bedkot Municipality-1, who was absconding in a homicide case, was arrested in Kathmandu, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Chakra Raj Joshi, chief of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
According to SP Joshi, Bohara was brought to Kanchanpur after being arrested in Kathmandu. Bohara, who is also a member of the Nepali Congress Kanchanpur, has been accused of murdering Harka Bahadur Khadayat of Bedkot.
SP Joshi stated that on 28 Kartik 2080 BS, Bohara and his group assaulted Khadayat by surrounding him while he was returning from watching Deusi-Bhailo at Hathitala in Bedkot Municipality-1. At the time, a case of attempted murder was registered against five individuals. However, after Khadayat passed away during treatment on 10 Poush 2080 BS, the case was reclassified as a homicide.
Although Bohara has been arrested, four other individuals involved in the case are still at large. The police have stated that the search for them is ongoing.
