Nepali citizens who were stranded in China due to floods will be brought back to Nepal today through the Tatopani border point.

On Asar 24, a flood in the Lhende River near the Nepal-China border swept away the Miteri Bridge, preventing Nepalis in Kerung from returning home. As a result, the government has arranged transportation to bring them back through the Tatopani checkpoint in Sindhupalchok district.

Last Monday, Member of Parliament from Rasuwa, Engineer Mohan Acharya, met with Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba to request diplomatic intervention. During the meeting, he raised concerns over the delay in bringing back Nepalis stranded in Kerung, the need to build a temporary bridge, reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge, and better information exchange on weather forecasts.

Following this appeal, efforts have been made to repatriate the stranded Nepalis via Tatopani since the Rasuwa border remains inaccessible due to the damaged bridge.

Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Arjun Paudel, informed that the Nepali government has arranged transport up to Kathmandu for those returning through Tatopani. The Chinese government has managed transportation within Chinese territory.

According to Paudel, 203 Nepalis are being brought back today. Among them are drivers, patients, and people dependent on regular medication, many of whom had run out of essential supplies.

Even though the Syafrubesi–Rasuwagadhi road section is now operational, the Miteri Bridge remains unusable. Therefore, Tatopani has been chosen as the alternative route to bring the citizens home.
