Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has been banned from driving for six months. The 35-year-old actress was caught driving at 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford on July 31 last year. This offense added to the nine points already on her driving licence.
During a short hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, which Watson did not attend, she was fined £1,044. Despite this setback, Watson continues her academic studies and stays mostly out of the public eye.
Emma Watson rose to fame in 2001 with the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in all eight Harry Potter films. After the series, she appeared in movies such as Beauty and the Beast, The Bling Ring, and Little Women (2019).
A new HBO television series adaptation of the Harry Potter books is currently in production. The show will feature Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, among others. The series aims to cover the story over ten years, similar to the original films.
