Floods and Landslides Halts Nepal’s 10 Highways Fully and Partially

Heavy rains have triggered floods and landslides, blocking roads in six places across Nepal. According to Nepal Police Headquarters, traffic is operating one-way in four additional areas, but two-way access is still under repair.

Spokesperson DIG Binod Ghimire said that teams are working hard to clear the blocked roads and restore full movement where one-way traffic is currently allowed.

In Sindhupalchok, landslides have blocked three sections of the Araniko Highway—Kodari, Larcha, and Koplang in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality. This has severely affected transport towards the Nepal-China border area.

Flooding in Binayi Tribeni-1, Nawalparasi East, has shut down the Mahendra Highway. Vehicles are stranded, and passengers are facing long delays.

A major landslide in Rupse, Annapurna-3, Myagdi has blocked the busy Beni–Jomsom road. In Dolpa, Bheri Corridor at Chhalghat, Tripurasundari-1, is also completely shut due to flooding, and clearance work is ongoing.

Meanwhile, in Dhankuta, traffic on the Ravi–Rake–Bhetetar road is moving one-way. The same is true for BP Highway at Banjhokhet, Dhulikhel-11, where floods had caused a closure.

In Chitwan, the Narayangadh–Muglin road has reopened one-way after a landslide near Tuin Khola and Namsey Bridge in Ichchhakamana. Similarly, Kaligandaki Corridor in Burlaba, Kaligandaki-6, Gulmi is now open one-way after being blocked by a landslide.

Jumla–Mugu road has also reopened partially in Chulel village, Sinja-2, after a landslide disrupted travel there.
