It’s official — Krysten Ritter is back as Jessica Jones! The long-rumored return was confirmed during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York City on Tuesday, ending months of speculation among Marvel fans.
The 43-year-old actor will reprise her role in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, joining Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
“It is so great to be back,” Ritter said during the event. “Returning to Jessica after three seasons, and The Defenders, and now joining the MCU — I am so excited to bring back this iconic character. Without giving too much away… there’s much in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season.”
Ritter originally played the gritty, super-powered private investigator in Netflix’s Jessica Jones from 2015 to 2019. The show was part of Marvel’s street-level hero lineup, alongside Daredevil, and built a loyal fanbase over its three-season run.
Her return had been teased for months after she was spotted in New York earlier this year, though Marvel remained silent until now. At the time, she was filming for Dexter: Resurrection, adding to the confusion around her possible Marvel comeback.
Charlie Cox, who has continued his journey as Daredevil, also teased what’s ahead: “Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again was an incredible experience, and the response from fans has been overwhelming. The good news is — we’re just getting started. Season 2 is heading in a bold new direction.”
Cox added that he’ll finally don the iconic black Daredevil suit with the interlocking “DD” logo on the chest — something fans have been eager to see for years.
Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again ended on a dramatic note, with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk becoming the Mayor of New York City and tightening his grip on the city alongside his wife, Vanessa. Matt Murdock, now back in his red suit, made it clear he’s ready to fight back, joined by longtime allies Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
With Jessica Jones now officially in the mix, Season 2 promises an exciting blend of returning heroes, gritty storylines, and high-stakes action. Fans can expect a darker, more connected chapter in Marvel’s street-level saga.
