After a one-day break, Nepal Super League (NSL) 2025 resumes today with the 11th match of the season featuring Kathmandu Rayzrs and Butwal Lumbini FC. The game will kick off at 6 PM at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

NSL 2025: Battle Between Two Winless Sides

Both teams are currently at the bottom of the league table and have yet to secure a win in the tournament. Kathmandu has played three matches with two draws and one loss, collecting only 2 points, placing them sixth. Meanwhile, Butwal sits at the bottom in seventh place with just 1 point from one draw and two defeats.

So far, Kathmandu, Butwal, and Jhapa FC are the only teams without a win in NSL 2025. With both teams desperate to grab their first victory, today’s match is a must-win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

NSL 2025: Kathmandu’s Mixed Performances

Kathmandu had a strong start in their opening game, coming from behind to draw 2-2 against defending champions Lalitpur City. They then played a goalless draw against Jhapa and lost 2-0 to Pokhara Thunders in their third match.

NSL 2025: Struggles Continue for Butwal

Butwal’s campaign has been more disappointing. Despite going a man down in the opening match after captain Arik Bista received a red card, they managed a 0-0 draw against Jhapa. But things went downhill afterward, suffering heavy defeats against Dhangadhi FC (4-1) and FC Chitwan (1-0).

Foreign Signings Yet to Impress

Despite having experienced foreign players, both teams have struggled in attack. Kathmandu’s forwards Amadou Diop and Buya Turay have managed only one goal so far. Diop scored in the first game. Midfielder Vincent Koziello also scored from the penalty spot in the opening match against Lalitpur.

Butwal has been affected by injuries to key players. English defender Adam Mitter was injured in the first match and missed the second game but returned for the third. Another defender, Nathan Mavila, got injured in the second game and didn’t feature in the third. In the last match, only two foreign players, Mitter and Japanese midfielder Kenta Hara, made the starting lineup. While Hora impressed in midfield, African strikers Philip Adjah and Ezekiel Tamara failed to make an impact.

Goalkeepers Shine Despite Struggles

One bright side for both teams is their goalkeeping. Kathmandu’s Abhishek Baral and Butwal’s Deep Karki have delivered standout performances. Deep was named Player of the Match against Jhapa, while Abhishek earned the same title in the draw against Jhapa.

In their third games, both keepers continued their strong form with crucial saves. Notably, Kathmandu has chosen to trust local talent Abhishek over their foreign goalkeeper. Butwal, on the other hand, is the only team in the league to rely solely on Nepali goalkeepers.

Today’s game is more than just another fixture — it’s a chance for one of these struggling teams to finally break their winless streak and revive their NSL 2025campaign.
