Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang opened the company’s big AI developer event introducing Rubin AI, GTC 2025, by talking about how artificial intelligence is changing fast. He told the crowd that AI is now at an important turning point.
What Is GTC 2025?
GTC 2025 is called the “Super Bowl of AI.” Thousands of developers and AI experts came to hear about Nvidia’s latest work and future plans.
Nvidia’s AI Chips Including Rubin AI
Huang announced new chip designs that are coming soon:
- Blackwell Ultra will arrive in the second half of 2025.
- Rubin AI chip, named after famous astronomer Vera Rubin, will launch in late 2026.
- Rubin Ultra will follow in 2027.
How Fast Is AI Growing?
Huang said that in just ten years, AI has moved from simply seeing and recognizing images to generating content and now reasoning like humans. The next step for AI is robotics, where machines will be able to think and move like humans.
What Is Physical AI?
According to Huang, the next wave is “physical AI.” This means robots will be able to understand things like:
- Friction and weight
- Cause and effect
- How objects move and interact
Why Is Synthetic Data Important?
Huang explained that AI needs large amounts of data to learn, and synthetic data (computer-created data) can help. He said that relying only on human-created data is too slow and expensive.
New Tools for Building Robots
Huang introduced Isaac GR00T N1, a free and open-source AI model that will help create humanoid robots. This model will work with Cosmos, another AI tool, to generate training data for robots in a virtual world.
What Experts Are Saying
Professor Benjamin Lee from the University of Pennsylvania said synthetic data will make AI research faster and more accessible for more scientists and universities.
How Nvidia Helps Self-Driving Cars
Nvidia is working with General Motors to help build self-driving cars. They will use Nvidia’s Omniverse and Cosmos tools to train AI systems safely and efficiently.
Safety Comes First
Huang also introduced Halos, an AI safety system for cars. He said Nvidia is the first company where every line of code is checked for safety.
A New Physics Engine for Robotics
At the end of his speech, Huang announced Newton, a new simulation tool for robotics. Nvidia is building it with the help of Google DeepMind and Disney Research.
Meet the Robot on Stage
To finish, a small robot named Blue appeared on stage. It beeped and followed Huang’s commands. Huang smiled and said, “The age of generalist robotics is here.”
