Online System Introduced for Citizenship in Baitadi

Local bodies in Baitadi have started recommending citizenship certificates through an online system. Out of ten local bodies, six have already begun using the online process, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Dirgharaj Upadhyaya.

The local bodies that are now using the online system for citizenship recommendations include Shivnath and Pancheshwar rural municipalities, and Meluali, Patan, Dashrathchand, and Purchaudi municipalities. The online system was introduced to make services easier for the public and to improve the delivery of services.

Upadhyaya explained that local bodies are now recommending citizenship certificates online from the ward level. This has helped eliminate the hassle of people having to visit the administrative office without the necessary documents.

Purchaudi Municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer, Jagadish Prasad Joshi, said that the online system has made the process smoother, with less confusion and quicker service. He added that before the online system, people often had to go to the district office and return without getting their work done due to missing documents. Now, they can ensure they have all the required papers before heading to the office.

Shivnath Rural Municipality’s Chairperson, Karn Singh Saud, mentioned that with the online system, the ward office can now check if people have all the necessary documents at the time of their application. This means people no longer have to return empty-handed if something is missing.

Other local bodies are expected to start using the online system soon. Some wards have faced delays due to a lack of internet and staff. However, the District Administration Office has stated that it will provide training to staff and local representatives so they can start the online recommendation process.

Once the online system is fully implemented, it is expected to make the process easier, more efficient, and help prevent the submission of false or forged information. This will improve the overall service and ensure effective delivery.
