Parbati Joshi from Rasuwa district has made history by climbing Mount Everest without the help of any Sherpa guides. She reached the summit on May 19, 2025, becoming both the first woman ever to do so without Sherpa support and the first woman from Rasuwa to scale the world’s highest peak.
Parbati, born on December 24, 1992, is a former volleyball player turned trekking guide. Inspired by her love for the Himalayas, she completed basic mountaineering training in 2016 and an advanced course in 2020. On May 19, she unfurled a board at the summit with the Korean message: “Dad, Mom, I love you.”
She began her journey from Kathmandu on April 20 and returned on May 24. She stated, “I climbed Everest purely relying on my own decision, strategy, and courage—without any Sherpa assistance.”
