Police vs Army in Jay Trophy 2081 Final

The final match of the Jay Trophy Elite Cup 2081, currently being held in Madhesh Province, is set to begin today. The championship clash, played in a three-day format, will feature two departmental teams: Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club.

The first day of the match is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM at the Narayani Cricket Ground in Birgunj. Unlike the previous league matches, which were played in a two-day format, the final will be contested over three days.

Nepal Police, led by Arif Sheikh, topped the league stage, while Tribhuvan Army, captained by Binod Bhandari, secured second place. Police won two matches and drew one, while Army won one and drew two.

In the league stage, Police drew their first match against Army before defeating Madhesh Province and Bagmati Province. Meanwhile, Army also drew their first match against Police, drew the second match against Bagmati Province, and defeated Madhesh Province in the third match.

In this bowler-dominated tournament, Police’s Lalit Rajbanshi and Kushal Bhurtel have delivered outstanding performances, with Gulshan Jha also excelling in pace bowling. For Army, Shahab Alam and Pawan Karki have impressed with their spin, while Akash Chand has performed well in pace.

In batting, Amit Shrestha and Arjun Saud have shown good form for Police, while Imran Sheikh and Bashir Ahmed have performed well for Army. Additionally, other players have also made notable contributions in individual matches.

The tournament, which began on Poush 21, featured the top four teams from the Prime Minister’s Cup National Tournament. A total of six league matches were played in a single round-robin format.
