The 38-year-old Spanish tennis star has won 22 Grand Slam titles. Out of those, 14 came from the French Open, which is a record on the clay courts of Paris. His overall match record at Roland Garros is 112 wins and just 4 losses.
A New Role as Roland Garros Ambassador
Even though Nadal retired in November last year, he may soon take on a new role. Organisers plan for him to become an ambassador for the French Open, continuing his strong connection with the event.
A Special Ceremony with a Surprise
Gilles Moretton, the President of the French Tennis Federation, called Nadal’s history with the tournament a “love story.” He said that both Nadal and the tournament share deep respect for each other.
Tournament Director Amelie Mauresmo added that the details of the ceremony will be kept secret for now. She said Nadal has shaped the history of the French Open and will continue to be part of it, even though he won’t play this year.
Nadal’s History at the French Open
Nadal first won the French Open in 2005. His most recent title was in 2022. He played his final match at Roland Garros in 2024, where he lost in the first round to Alexander Zverev.
