Ram Kapoor Dropped from Mistry Promotions After Alleged Inappropriate Remarks During Media Event

In a shocking development ahead of the release of Mistry, a mystery dramedy set to premiere on June 27, 2025, on JioHotstar, actor Ram Kapoor has been dropped from all promotional activities related to the series. The decision comes after multiple allegations of inappropriate and sexually charged remarks made by Kapoor during a media interaction held at JW Marriott, Mumbai.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the incident occurred during a press meet where Kapoor was joined by co-star Mona Singh and senior executives from JioHotstar. Eyewitnesses claim the actor’s conduct crossed professional boundaries, with remarks that made attendees visibly uncomfortable.

An insider present at the event recounted, “His jokes were laced with sexual innuendos. During a conversation about his packed schedule, he said he felt ‘gang-raped’—a deeply inappropriate remark, especially made while a female journalist was adjusting her mic.”

The situation reportedly escalated as Kapoor continued to make off-colour comments. He allegedly made inappropriate remarks about the attire of a female PR team member, stating, “The clothes are distracting,” while referencing the length of her dress. Other instances included a distasteful comment directed at a male colleague: “Your mother should’ve faked a headache—you shouldn’t have been born,” as well as crude references to sexual positions.

As the comments were processed and discussed later that evening, several individuals from the platform’s executive and PR teams came forward to raise formal complaints. A JioHotstar executive stated, “It didn’t all register immediately, but as we started discussing it later, we realized the extent of what was said.”

In response to the allegations, JioHotstar’s HR team conducted an internal review, corroborated by eyewitness accounts. Following this, the leadership team made the decision to exclude Kapoor from any further promotional events for Mistry. “This workplace prioritises dignity and safety,” a source from the platform said. “We do not endorse or tolerate behaviour that compromises workplace respect and inclusivity.”

Promotional duties for Mistry will now be led solely by Mona Singh, alongside other cast members including Shikha Talsania, Abhiijeit Chitre, and Kshitish Date.

Despite the controversy, the release of Mistry remains on schedule. The series, blending mystery and drama with a comedic twist, is expected to explore unconventional narratives and intriguing character arcs. However, the shadow cast by Kapoor’s alleged misconduct may affect the tone of its launch.

Stay tuned for further updates on the series and ongoing developments in this story.
