Rasika Dugal has built a fulfilling career in acting, featuring in cult favorites like Mirzapur and the OTT hit Lootcase. With the majority of her work being showcased on digital platforms, does she ever feel concerned about being labeled an “OTT actor”?
Addressing this, Rasika shares, “Everyone has their own perceptions, and they are entitled to them. Sometimes, these perceptions work in your favor, and other times, they don’t. It’s not something you can control.” As she prepares for the third season of Delhi Crime, she remains unfazed by such classifications.
She further explains that actors are often too immersed in their work to focus on how they are perceived by the audience. “There are always different opinions floating around, but I don’t keep track of them. As actors, we often don’t even realize what benefits us and what doesn’t. Many aspects of our careers are beyond our control. These labels don’t bother me,” she states.
For Rasika, her body of work is what truly matters. “I don’t feel insecure about it at all. In fact, if someone wants to call me the ‘OTT queen,’ that’s perfectly fine—why not?” she says with a laugh.
She also believes the love she receives for her digital projects holds just as much significance as any theatrical release. Using the latest season of Mirzapur as an example, she expresses, “Interacting with Mirzapur fans again was wonderful. Their loyalty and curiosity about the series are incredible. The appreciation we receive for our work is truly addictive,” she concludes.
