RCB Marketing Head Nikhil Sosale Arrested Over IPL Victory Event StampedeBengaluru Police have arrested Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s marketing and revenue head, Nikhil Sosale, in connection with the tragic stampede during the team’s IPL 2025 victory celebration.

The victory event, organized without proper permission, turned into chaos resulting in the death of 11 people. Sosale was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport on Friday morning.Alongside Sosale, two officials from DNA Entertainment Network, the event management company involved, were also arrested:

Sunil Mathew – Vice President (Business)

Kiran Kumar – Senior Event Manager

Government and Police Response

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took immediate action:

  • Ordered arrests of those responsible from RCB, DNA Entertainment, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)
  • Announced a judicial commission led by retired High Court Justice Michael D’Cunha to investigate the incident.
  • The commission is expected to submit a report within 30 days.

Top Police Officials Suspended

Following the CM’s directive, several senior police officers were suspended for their failure in managing security:

  • Commissioner B. Dayanand
  • Additional Commissioner Vikas Kumar
  • Central DCP Shekhar H. Tekkanavar
  • Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station

FIR Registered

Bengaluru Police filed an FIR citing the following charges:

  • Conducting the event without permission
  • Negligence in security arrangements
  • Delay in rescue operations after the stampede
