Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s action-packed film Sikandar is now expected to release on an OTT platform nearly two months after its theatrical debut. Although the makers have not officially confirmed anything yet, reports suggest the film might premiere on Netflix on May 25, 2025.
A Mixed Box Office Journey
Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss (of Ghajini fame), was released in cinemas on March 30, 2025, during the Eid festival. Despite the festive timing and high expectations from a Salman Khan movie, it didn’t perform as strongly as hoped at the box office.
However, the film still managed to earn ₹110.36 crore net in India and ₹184.89 crore worldwide, proving that Salman’s star power still draws crowds. The film reportedly had a massive budget of ₹200 crore, but thanks to OTT rights, satellite deals, and music sales, it recovered much of its cost even before release.
Big OTT Deal Before Release
Before hitting cinemas, the makers of Sikandar had reportedly signed an OTT deal worth ₹85 crore, securing major revenue early on. Now, if sources are correct, the movie will finally arrive on Netflix by the end of May.
What’s Sikandar About?
The story revolves around Sanjay Rajkot, a brave king-like figure played by Salman Khan, who is deeply loved by his people and known as Sikandar. His wife Saishree, played by Rashmika Mandanna, is fiercely protective of him. But the peaceful kingdom is threatened when political enemies seek revenge — especially the powerful minister Rakesh Pradhan and his son Arjun.
A tragic twist leads to Saishree’s death. Before her passing, she donates her eyes, heart, and lungs. Devastated, Sanjay sets out on a mission to find the three people who received her organs and change their lives. Along the way, he faces violent resistance from his old enemies who blame him for their personal losses.
