School Bus Carrying 40 Students Catches Fire in Rupandehi

A private school bus carrying students caught fire in Rupandehi.

The incident occurred in the Little Flower Boarding School’s bus, which operates in Ward No. 4 of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality, Farsatikar. The fire suddenly broke out while the bus was on the move.

There were around 40 students on board at the time of the incident. However, the driver and the assistant quickly evacuated all the students, preventing any casualties, according to Rupandehi Police spokesperson DSP Suraj Karki. “The bus had already picked up students from their homes and was close to the school when it suddenly caught fire with smoke. The driver, assistant, and locals immediately rescued the students and avoided human casualties,” DSP Karki stated.

The bus, bearing registration number Lu 1 Kha 1326, was completely destroyed by the fire, according to the police. The fire was eventually extinguished by a fire engine.

DSP Karki said preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by a mechanical fault in the bus.
