Community and institutional schools under Birgunj Metropolitan City have been closed for three days because of the increasing cold.
The Education Department of Birgunj announced the holiday from 24 to 26 to protect students’ health from the adverse effects of the cold.
According to Education Officer Hari Raut, schools have been instructed to continue administrative work during the break, assign homework to students, and create a study environment at home while suspending regular classes.
The cold wave and fog have disrupted daily life in the area, affecting children and the elderly the most. To help people stay warm, the metropolitan city has arranged firewood at various city intersections.
