Shree Bhagwati Club has secured promotion to the prestigious Martyr’s Memorial A Division League after a thrilling 2-1 win against Boys Union Club at the ANFA Complex on Tuesday. This important victory ensures Shree Bhagwati finishes second in the B Division standings.
Promotion Sealed with a Game Left
With this win, Shree Bhagwati Club has collected 26 points from 12 matches, confirming their rise to the top tier of Nepali football before their final game. The club’s journey has been impressive, having won the C Division title back in 2016 and now moving steadily up the ranks.
Planning Boyz, the B Division champions this season, continue to lead the table with 30 points from 12 games.
Boys Union’s Hopes Dashed
Boys Union Club, stuck on 19 points, faced a do-or-die match. Even if they win their last game, they cannot surpass Shree Bhagwati in the standings. Shree Bhagwati’s early dominance put pressure on Boys Union from the start.
Shishir Lekhi opened the scoring early in the 6th minute, and Ajit Lama doubled the lead just before halftime in the 38th minute, giving Shree Bhagwati a strong 2-0 advantage at the break. Boys Union tried to come back in the second half, with Sanjib Lama scoring in the 79th minute, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Relegation Confirmed for Tushal Youth and Nayabasti Clubs
The season also ended on a sad note for Tushal Youth Club and Nayabasti Youth Club, who were relegated to the C Division. Tushal’s relegation was confirmed after 12th-placed Annapurna Club (RCT) held fifth-placed Birgunj United to a 1-1 draw. This result lifted RCT to 11th place with 15 points, while Birgunj stayed in fifth with 17 points.
Tushal finished with only 11 points, and Nayabasti ended the season at the bottom with just 5 points from 12 matches.
Teams Remaining in B Division
Birgunj United, Shree Kumari Club, RCT, Bansbari Club, Saraswoti Youth Club, Madhyapur Youth Association, Brigade Boys, and Chyasal Youth Club have all successfully avoided relegation and will compete in the B Division next season.
Shree Bhagwati’s promotion marks a proud moment for the club and their fans as they prepare for the challenges of top-flight football.
